Notes: Herbaceous perennial wildflower commonly found in open woodlands and along roadsides. A favorite amongst pollinators, especially butterflies, it is also a host plant to the Silvery Checkerspot (Chlosyne nycteis) and the Wavy-lined Emerald (Synchlora aerata). A good source of seeds for American Goldfinches and other songbirds in the winter. Best used in a border area or planted in groupings in a pollinator garden.
