Notes: Deciduous tree commonly found in dry woodlands, floodplains, or disturbed areas in the wild. It is a host plant for the Luna moth (Actias luna) and the Hickory Horned Devil moth (Citheronia regalis). Its fruit is beloved by birds and mammals (including humans!) It is dioecious, meaning you need both a male and female tree to get fruit. Best grown as an ornamental or fruit tree in a yard or naturalized areas.
